Preparing a Pasta Lunch for the Whole Family

28/8/2023

Had a great day today supporting my client Benny in cooking a homemade pasta lunch for him and his mum. We also had a very nice cup of coffee at The Chemistry of Coffee cafe and to top off the day a white chocolate and berry ice cream at Clementine’s Gelato.

  • I'm here with my good friend and client Benny, and we are chopping up some carrots for a creamy vodka and tomato pasta we are going to make today.

So I'm going to help Benny by guiding his hand when we're cutting the carrots. Benny just move your hand a little bit to the right mate. We're just going to slowly go across.

I'm just going to bring the carrot forward a bit mate

So I provide this guiding support for my clients who do want to get involved in cutting, but are just a little bit unsure. And in hopes that eventually they'll build the skills to be able to cut for themselves. But if not, still getting them completely involved in the activity which is great.

Alright mate let's go again. (Benny) Okay

(Peter) Now we're going to cut down.

And small pieces for a bolognese.

    Chop, chop, chop, choppa.

Ready ready, choppa, choppa, choppa, choppa, choppa, choppa [laughter]

  • We have just finished our creamy vodka tomato pasta.

    Looks a bit like this.

Some of the ingredients you have in there you've got onion, garlic, star anise, soy sauce, tomato paste and the key ingredient vodka.

We are cooking the vodka off so it's not going to be alcholic at the end. We are not getting hammered here and I will post the recipe underneath. That will be there for you if you want to give it a go yourself at home.

But now we are up to the taste testing part, so Benny may I please have the spoon, and here we go, give it a good blow.

(Benny) Mmm, (Peter) delicious? (Benny) Yeah Peter [laughter]

(Peter) Good mate, glad you like it
